Louth Ladies League Underway

The 2019 adult league competition finally got underway over the May Bank Holiday weekend throughout the county.

The Division 1, 2 & 3 competitions had been delayed while the county team were still involved in the Lidl National Football League. Postponements and re-scheduling of county fixtures meant there were no free weekends in March and April to start the club leagues.

Action from St Kevins v Stabannon

Most of the club teams were involved in the Subsidiary League competitions to date, which provided much needed match practice, but the start of the “main league” was eagerly anticipated.

Acorn Insurance Division 1:

There were some big scores recorded in the top division on Sunday morning, with Stabannon and Geraldines starting off their campaigns in some style with victories over St Kevins and St Brides respectively. St Mochtas over county champions Cooley and intermediate champions St Fechins over Newtown Blues were the other winners on day one.

Cooley Kickhams 1-11, St Mochtas 3-9

St Fechins 2-12, Newtown Blues 0-3

St Kevins 0-4, Stabannon Parnells 7-13

Geraldines 6-10, St Brides 1-9.

More action from Philipstown on Sunday

Wee County Trophies Division 2:

The Geraldines B got this division underway on Friday evening with a comprehensive win over Glyde, while Roche/Na Piarsaigh were winners over Dreadnots. On Sunday, Clan na Gael surprised last year’s runners-up St Pats with a big away win in Lordship, while Naomh Mairtin/Glen Emmets and Naomh Fionnbarra played a very tight encounter in Monasterboice with the visitors coming away with a one point victory.

Geraldines B 1-17,  Glyde Rangers 0-1

St Patricks 2-14, Clan na Gael 7-10
